Horizons Creative Writing workshop announces its 2018 showcase.

Horizons is a creative writing program of the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless, which host parents and children from South Side and West Side shelters at its yearly poetry showcase.

Horizons, led by Director of Organizing Wayne Richard, leads bi-weekly writing sessions for parents and older children at local family shelters.

Residents from Primo Center for Women and Children, A Safe Haven, and Margaret's Village, will be in attendance and performing their creative writings.

Horizons partner with Adler University's Art department, led by Dr. Jennifer LaCivita, and is also co-facilitated yearly by an intern from the university. The annual showcase also features "emphatic " art responses created from Adler students.

This year Horizons partners with the American Writers Museum to create an evening that celebrates the lives of those who live on the margins in Chicago. The event will be held at the American Writers Museum, 180 North Michigan, at 6:30 pm.

Booklets published by Horizons featuring some of the poetry will be available at the event. Other work is featured online in our Horizons Reading Room.

Horizons is supported by longtime grants from the Seabury Foundation, with internship assistance by graduate students from Adler University. CCH's 2018 Adler intern Ruby Aranki co-facilitated Horizons this past academic year.

When you RSVP, your email will be added to our list to receive our monthly e-newsletter and future programming updates.
