Writers on War & Peace
Sponsored by the Chicago Literary Hall of Fame
My first wish is to see this plague of mankind, war, banished from the earth — George Washington
Featuring Reginald Gibbons, Nina Corwin, Gerald Brennan, Chris Green and contributors to I Remember: Chicago Veterans of War, with Haki Madhubuti, publisher of Third World Press.
Since our nation’s founding, American writers have focused their lens on the shattering human cost of war as well as its reverberating impact on times of peace. This year, we commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 1918 Armistice ending World War I — a global inferno whose consequences are felt even today.
Join us for an afternoon of readings, talk and reflection with leading Chicago writers whose work honors their own experience and that of others whose sacrifice we can never forget.
Program admission includes museum admission.
