"Pouring out liquor is like burning books." —William Faulkner

And we certainly don't want to do that! Which is why we're excited to host an evening in celebration of cocktails and the writers who drank them. Explore the AWM with literary libations inspired by our upcoming exhibit Tools of the Trade, which features typewriters, pens, inkwells, and other writing instruments used by iconic American writers such as Maya Angelou, Gwendolyn Brooks, Ernest Hemingway, and more. Join us for a fun night as we toast to the writer's liquid tool – alcohol.

Oh right, the books! We'd be remiss not to combine two of our most favorite activities: reading and drinking. So we encourage you to bring a copy of your favorite book to swap with other guests. We'll keep the drinks flowing so the conversations and connections flow too! Our friends from Poems While You Wait will be on hand as well, writing you personal poems on their own typewriters.

Your ticket purchase includes museum admission and three (3) drinks. We will announce the specialty cocktails soon. And, as always, please drink (and write) responsibly.

When you RSVP, your email will be added to our list to receive our monthly e-newsletter and future programming updates.
