Reader Bios
Scott Turow is the author of ten bestselling works of fiction, including Identical, Presumed Innocent, and The Burden of Proof, and two nonfiction books, including One L, about his experience as a law student. His books have been translated into over 40 languages, sold more than 30 million copies worldwide, and have been adapted for film and television. He has contributed essays and op-ed pieces to publications such as The New York Times, Washington Post, Vanity Fair, The New Yorker, and The Atlantic.
Rebecca Makkai is the Chicago-based author of the novels The Great Believers, The Hundred-Year House, and The Borrower, as well as the short story collection Music for Wartime. Her short fiction won a 2017 Pushcart Prize, and was chosen for The Best American Short Stories for four consecutive years (2008–2011). The recipient of a 2014 NEA fellowship, Makkai is on the MFA faculties of Sierra Nevada College and Northwestern University, and she is the Artistic Director of StoryStudio Chicago.
James Finn Garner's Politically Correct Bedtime Stories has been translated into 20 languages and spent 65 weeks on The New York Times Best Sellers list. Garner has been a contributing editor with Chicago Magazine, and his fiction and satire have also appeared in Playboy, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, TV Guide, The Chicago Tribune Magazine, Utne Reader, and other publications. His commentaries have been broadcast on NPR and his stories have aired on BBC Radio.
